Dr. P. Sivasankaran is a distinguished figure in the field of psychiatry, with over five decades of dedicated service. He began his illustrious career in 1968 in the Kerala Government Health Services, advancing from Assistant Surgeon to Psychiatrist, and eventually retiring as the Deputy Director of Health Services. His extensive experience includes years of service at the Mental Health Centre, Thrissur, a leading government facility for mental health care in Kerala.
A pioneer in psychiatric treatment, Dr. Sivasankaran introduced Modified Brief Pulse Electro Convulsive Therapy, revolutionizing psychiatric care in the region. After his retirement in 1999, he continued practicing in the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom, gaining international experience and further refining his expertise.
Since 2008, Dr. Sivasankaran has been an integral part of the Shalom Institute of Mental Health and Research (SIMHAR), serving as Consultant Psychiatrist and Medical Superintendent. His commitment to patient care, combined with his vast knowledge and experience, makes him a pillar of the SIMHAR community. With an unwavering dedication to mental health, he has helped shape the institute’s ethos of compassionate, evidence-based care.
