Shalom Institute of Mental Health and Research (SIMHAR) was founded in 2007 in Palakkad, Kerala. The institute originally operated as Shalom CareNCure, a twenty-bed facility with fifteen staff members. In 2010, it relocated to a new facility, and in 2017, it was renamed SIMHAR. The institute’s multidisciplinary team includes five psychiatrists, one physician, a clinical psychologist, mental health professionals, nurses, and a skilled support staff. SIMHAR is affiliated with CMAI and licensed by the State Mental Health Authority of Kerala.
SIMHAR offers comprehensive solution for the mentally ill. The hospital also offers specialized treatment for schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder,post-traumatic stress disorder, de-addiction treatment for people with alcohol addiction, drug addiction, depression, children with various behavioural problems and institutionalized care for geriaric psychiatric patients.
